HOME TEETH WHITENING

We recommend starting with applications of 30-60 minutes and then working your way up to applications of up to 3 hours as your teeth are comfortable. If you have highly sensitive teeth, you will want to stick with shorter sessions and may need to skip a day. It is highly recommended by dentists and hygienists that customers should use desensitizing gel for 20 minutes after each teeth whitening session.

Yes,we have many customers with retainers or other restorative work and creating/using home whitening trays is perfectly fine. The impression material will not stick to your retainer and the whitening process will not harm the materials or bonding. Just be sure you press your impressions deep enough to cover the retainer in order for your custom-fitted trays to fit perfectly.

Each set of teeth whitening trays are custom made to fit the customer’s teeth perfectly! The trays are made from a thin, flexible material that is comfortable & virtually unnoticeable. You will still be able to speak easily. The trays will stay snug and will not fall out when you open or close your mouth.

Please note: Trays do not cover the second molars (your very back teeth). These teeth do not need to be whitened. A tray that goes back to the 2nd molars is likely to cause gum irritation and is more susceptible to falling out, which is why we don’t do it!

Both our teeth whitening gel and desensitizing gel will remain effective for 2 years if refrigerated, or 1 year if stored at room temperature.

Yes! Our professional grade teeth whitening gel and desensitizing gel syringes can be purchased by themselves in packs of 3, 6, or 9 syringes. Purchasing teeth whitening or desensitizing gel syringes do not include custom-fitted whitening trays.

Each syringe delivers 3-4 applications for both top and bottom teeth. Most people need 7-14 applications (once per day,) to completely remove all stains from their teeth. This varies from person to person depending on the type and severity of stains on the teeth, as well as the length of time per application.

Keeping a white smile requires occasional maintenance. Since the teeth whitening gel is cheaper when purchasing trays, we recommend that you purchase more gel in the original kit. Our teeth whitening gel and desensitizing gel both have a 2-year shelf-life when refrigerated, or 1-year unrefrigerated so purchasing extra gel will ensure you are able to keep your teeth stain-free.

Tetracycline stains are often caused by heavy antibiotic use as a child or during your mother’s pregnancy. It is possible for mild to moderate cases of tetracycline staining to be whitened although it may take several months of applications with a home whitening kit or several in-clinic whitening treatments to remove the deep stains. Consult your dentist for the optimal ways to eliminate severe tetracycline stains.

Your teeth are constantly under attack, gradually staining from the colours in food, drink, and tobacco. These stains build up over time and will continue to do so after whitening also. Each time you whiten, you are removing years of staining. Although teeth do re-stain it’s very easy to maintain a white smile for life! After your initial treatments to remove old stains, most people only need a touchup 1-2 times per year to maintain their ideal results.

It is important to remember that genetics play a big role in the natural color of your teeth and that everyone’s natural color is different. No teeth whitening product in the world can modify the genetic makeup that defines your tooth’s color. However, we guarantee that when our products are used properly, it will remove all the stains that have built up over the years and restore your teeth to their optimal whiteness. The average person will remove all stains within 1-2 In clinic treatments or 7-14 home whitening treatments. Other may require more to remove deeply set stains.

Gum irritation during in-clinic teeth whitening treatments is rare as the whitening gel is applied by our whitening technicians directly onto your teeth, on occasions minor irritation can still happen but is not serious. During the treatment, it is important to swallow frequently and avoid moving your tongue near your teeth. Following the treatment, if there is any gum irritation our practitioners will provide you with some gel to apply to quickly ease irritation.

Gum irritation can also happen occasionally when using home whitening trays. Fortunately, If you happen to have gum irritation there are ways to address this. We recommend taking a break from teeth whitening for a few days to allow your gums to recover. You can swish with warm salt water to ease the discomfort. The key to avoiding gum irritation is to avoid the whitening gel from having prolonged contact with your gums.

Make sure you are not putting too much gel into the tray. You only need a thin string of gel along the front, inner surface of the tray to get results. Too much gel will ooz out and sit on the gums.
Remove any excess gel that has spread onto your gums with a cotton swab or your finger + a tissue.
If irritation persists, rub Vaseline on your gums prior to inserting your trays. The Vaseline will act as a barrier so that less whitening gel is able to come into contact with your gums and irritate them.

Results will vary from person to person depending on the severity of staining, genetics, and dietary habits. Results from in-clinic whitening generally last 6-18 months. Home teeth whitening with custom-made whitening trays can keep your teeth white for many years with the benefit of being able to simply ‘top up’ whenever desired.

Results will vary from person to person depending on the severity of staining, genetics, and dietary habits. As a rule of thumb, a person with average stained teeth and no natural sensitivity will see results in 60-90 minutes of an in-clinic treatment or 7-14 applications of a home whitening treatment.

For those with sensitivity (who require shorter whitening sessions or a weaker gel), it may take more than 14 applications. Please remember, every time you whiten, you are removing years of staining. Once you have removed all your stains, it is incredibly easy to maintain those results for life!

Natural teeth have pores which allow teeth whitening gel to be absorbed and remove stains. Artificial and cosmetic dental work such as crowns, caps, fillings or veneers are color matched at the time they are installed and do not have pores. The color of your cap, crown or veneer cannot be changed (unless it is replaced).

Teeth whitening will not whiten or damage artificial dental work including crowns, veneers, bridges, permanent retainers, bonding, or fillings. The teeth whitening process can lighten teeth which have porcelain veneers.

Note: Dentists recommend that prior to getting veneers, caps, or crowns, clients whiten their teeth. This way, the restoration work will be installed to match your whitest possible natural teeth.

A very small percentage of customers may experience some minor tooth sensitivity and/or gum irritation, which disappears shortly after finishing the treatment or by decreasing the amount of time you use the home whitening system.

If you are unsure of your current oral health or have concerns, talk with your dentist prior to whitening.

SCIENCE & RESULTS

Your teeth are constantly under attack, gradually staining from the colours in food, drink, and tobacco. These stains build up over time and will continue to do so after whitening also. After your initial treatments to remove old stains, most people only need a touchup 1-2 times per year to maintain their ideal results.

Tooth sensitivity is caused when the inner nerves of a tooth are exposed to changes in temperature (most often cold). It is estimated that up to 60% of people suffer from tooth sensitivity as a result of diet, aggressive brushing, or cracked/broken teeth. In the case of whitening, the active ingredient in whitening gel opens up the pores to lift stains. In the process, the teeth become slightly dehydrated. This dehydration temporarily reduces insulation and allow the nerve to be more susceptible to changes in temperature.

Don’t Worry, tooth sensitivity due to teeth whitening is temporary! Your teeth naturally rehydrate and remineralize shortly afterwards and the sensitivity does not usually last more than 24 hours. For hypersensitive teeth, we highly recommend using desensitizing gel after each whitening session. It relieves discomfort and helps protect/nourish the teeth as they rehydrate.

Teeth have pores that act like a sponge; absorbing the colors of the food and drink you consume every day. Over time, those stains continue to get deeper into the tooth and can no longer be removed by brushing or over-the-counter products like whitening strips. To remove these stains, a professional treatment is necessary. The whitening gel in a custom-fitted whitening tray or applied by a technician in-clinic gently opens up the pores and soaks into the tooth and the active ingredients lift the stains to the surface. After whitening, your pores require time to naturally rehydrate and remineralize (ie: pores go back to smaller size). Reducing the amount of colored food (especially coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco) for as long as possible will significantly reduce the chances of your teeth restaining quickly.
